Taking care of our skin goes deeper than cleansing and moisturizing. Just like we take care of our physical bodies when we go in for regular check ups, it is imperative that we take time to do mental and spiritual check up’s as well. At a New Beginning, we believe in rituals: take time to be mindful when you are taking care of your skin.
What are some ways we can take time in our busy schedules to be mindful, even for a brief moment?

The Radiant Awakening Ritual for both Skincare and Mindfulness

The Tulasara Radiant Facial Dry Brush

Tulasara means “moving towards balance” in Sanskrit. Our Tulasara Radiant facial dry brush has “ultra-soft nylon bristles, formed in rounded, massaging peaks”. The oval shape of the brush allows it to move into all contours of the skin, gently exfoliating and lifting dull and dead cells from the skin’s surface.

Dry-brushing promotes circulation and is gentle enough for every morning. This exfoliation ritual reveals healthy, radiant skin.

When you wake up in the morning, gently brush the skin. Start at the decolletage and move upwards toward the neck and face in small, circular motions. While performing the 60-second dry brushing ritual, take this time to close your eyes and be present. Take long, deep breaths. Feel the soft bristles against your skin. When you open your eyes, you might catch yourself feeling more relaxed and ready to begin the day.

Follow with a One Minute Facial Massage with Oleation Oil

After dry-brushing, use a few pumps of Aveda Oleation Oil. Warm the oil between your fingertips and work in the skin in upward, circular motions. This ritual promotes microcirculation, nourishes and restores the skin’s radiance. The oil hydrates and detoxes by pulling dirt and excess sebum from the skin. Leave the oil on for about four minutes, and then rinse off with cleanser.
